Tronics strengthens its position on the BioMEMS market by providing the industry with disruptive technology platforms tailored to meet the high level of requirements for medical devices.
Grenoble, France, and Dallas, TX, USA - June 2, 2015 - Tronics, a designer and manufacturer of innovative nano and microsystems, is deploying its growth strategy to benefit from the significant growth expected in healthcare applications, focusing on BioMEMS: “In Yole Développement's May 2015 Status of the MEMS Industry report, we estimate that the BioMEMS market will grow sharply and reach $6.6B in 2020,” says Frederic Breussin, Business Unit Manager, MEMS & Sensors at Yole Développement.
The analyst adds that “although the BioMEMS market is still dominated by disposable polymer devices, the silicon contribution will become increasingly significant. By 2020, silicon BioMEMS will represent 24% of the market, half of which will comprise accelerometers, pressure sensors and microfluidic devices with combined revenue of $800M. In this context, Yole highlights the significant role of Tronics' MEMS foundry services in international markets, especially in the U.S. With strong technology expertise in MEMS design and manufacturing, Tronics' US-based subsidiary is reinforcing its market positioning with a dedicated offering to the life science and biomedical industry.”
Building on this momentum, Tronics will take part in the Sensors Expo & Conference, from June 9 - 11, 2015 at Long Beach, California. The company will exhibit its complete portfolio of technologies and services for a wide range of applications at booth #144, including the current programs for the Healthcare industry.
Tronics has MADE BioMEMS one of its priorities, by providing the industry with the combination of reusable technology blocks and standardized platforms, enabling a faster and easier industrialization of the devices. This innovative approach has already garnered significant interest among a broad range of players: with its ability to achieve high levels of specifications and processes, Tronics gathers new leads coming from the medical field, and ranging from startups to recognized players.
“BioMEMS is a very promising sector for healthcare applications, and there is a clear trend toward the development of innovative technologies for better patient monitoring”, said Pascal Langlois, Chief Executive Officer of Tronics.
“This momentum is in line with Tronics' know-how and ability to deliver disruptive and innovative technology platforms to meet the challenges of miniaturization and cost optimization for high growth markets”, added Brian Stephenson, Chief Operating Officer of Tronics MEMS Inc.
