Two-year contract extension worth £14m (15,8 M€) with Rail Delivery Group (RDG)
Paragon ID (ASK - Euronext Paris - FR0011980077), European leader of identification solutions, in particular in Transport & Smart Cities, e-ID and Traceability & Brand Protection, announces a two-year extension of its contract with RDG (Rail Delivery Group), the organisation that brings together the community that run Britain's railway including Network Rail, as well as passenger and freight rail companies.
Under the terms of the contract extension, Paragon ID1 (ASK), through its English subsidiary BemroseBooth Paragon, will continue to supply all the magnetic tickets for RDG until 2020. In 2016, 900 million tickets were supplied to RDG. Paragon ID1 (ASK) is also responsible for the management and distribution of RDG and Rail operating companies' marketing materials such as flyers, leaflets, timetables… to more than 2,500 train stations across the country.
This contract also further strengthens the relationship between RDG and Paragon ID1 (ASK) who has also been named as a preferred supplier for smart ticketing as UK rail makes the transition from paper based magnetic tickets to contactless or smart alternatives.
Paragon ID1 (ASK) works closely with their customers within the transport and smart cities sector to facilitate the transition from traditional magnetic stripe paper tickets to new innovative solutions such as smart ticketing (RFID tickets), smart cards or secure mobile ticketing solutions – embedded within NFC enabled smartphones (HCE). Paragon ID1 (ASK), through its UK subsidiary, is one of the few companies ITSO accredited, the British standard for smart ticketing.
Richard Farmer, Sales and Marketing Director at BemroseBooth Paragon, declares:
« We are delighted to have extended our contract with RDG. We have agreed that we will work closely together to expedite the transition from magnetic stripe tickets to smart ticketing technology. We are fully focused on future solutions for mass transit, building on our strong heritage supplying the rail sector for decades. »
Dennis Rocks, Technology Services Director at RDG, comments:
« BBP's paper ticket pedigree makes it a leader in the field and this wider cooperation means that the company will also make its smart ticketing knowledge and ITSO manufacturing expertise available to RDG and UK train operators. With this partnership in place, we know that we can increase the use of simpler, smarter ticketing on the UK rail network, helping people to move through stations and trains quicker and easier, increasing customer satisfaction. »
