MND Group, a leading supplier of innovative mountain development and urban mobility solutions, today announces the signing of an exclusive partnership with the Chinese ski resort of Wanlong, situated at the heart of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics complex. This contract, which is expected to bring in total revenues of around €50 million over the next five years, will further boost MND's growth in the Asian market.
After signing an initial contract for a detachable gondola ropeway in February 2017, the MND Group has just signed an exclusive partnership agreement for the next 5 years with the Wanlong resort, via MND's new joint venture in China, for the sale of products and services covering all four of the Group's business lines: ropeways, snowmaking systems, slope protection equipment and high-adrenaline leisure facilities.
Wanlong is a long-established Chinese ski resort located 180 km from Beijing and near Zhangjiakou, where the new MND subsidiary is based.
MND will be Wanlong's exclusive partner and will support the development of the Chinese ski resort by:
- delivering and installing at least 4 new-generation detachable ropeways in addition to the one ordered in February 2017;
- developing and equipping a new outdoor activities area, with some facilities completed during the summer of 2017;
- extending and automating the current snowmaking system with the addition of around 500 new low-pressure snowmaking machines, 125 of which will be installed this summer for operation during the next winter season.
Discussions were also launched regarding the reinforcement of slope safety equipment.
In total, this global agreement will generate revenues of around €50 million for MND over the next 5 years, at least €7.5 million of which will be invoiced for the 2017-2018 FINANCIAL year.
This new order will strengthen the reputation of the innovative and efficient solutions developed by MND as well as driving its international growth strategy, thus enabling MND to expand its industrial base in France and to create new jobs in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
Luo Li, director of Wanlong ski resort, commented: “We are delighted to be strengthening our partnership with MND, a French group we have been working with since 2015. We believe that MND, thanks to its know-how and global offering, is currently the best placed supplier to support our ambitious development plan for Wanlong: opening new slopes and offering four-season activities will allow the resort to open all year round. We were particularly attracted by the new ropeways developed by MND, which offer innovative design, reduced operation and maintenance costs, comfort for skiers and safety for both users and operators."
MND chairman Xavier Gallot-Lavallée commented: “The renewed trust in MND's solutions shown by the pioneering ski resort of Wanlong will raise the profile of French expertise in sustainable mountain development in the Beijing 2022 Olympic complex. We are pursuing discussions with other market players in order to set up similar strategic partnerships in China."
