XceedR Chipsets Enable Operators to Offer Enhanced Multi-Line, Multi-Handset Services
SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 27, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- DSP Group®, Inc. (Nasdaq:DSPG), a leading global provider of wireless chipset solutions for converged communications at home, announced today that its cordless chipset solutions are powering a CAT-iq 2.0 certified home gateway (HGW) offered by Deutsche Telekom, one of the world's leading integrated telecommunications companies. Deutsche Telekom's upgraded Speedport W723V Type A home gateway is one of the first HGWs to receive CAT-iq 2.0 certification from the DECT Forum. Enabling HD-voice quality across a range of handsets, the home gateway provides subscribers with "true-to-life" sound, while opening the door to a host of value-added multi-line, multi-handset services.
Already used by Deutsche Telekom subscribers, the home gateway's voice service is based on the company's digital cordless chipset reference design and powered by DSP Group's XceedR™ family of market-leading chipset solutions. The reference design enables development of a low-cost, small form-factor module that can be integrated into diverse broadband residential gateways including internet access devices (IADs), cable embedded multimedia terminal adapters (EMTAs), and IP office PBXs. Based on DSP Group's single-chip architecture, the reference design reduces development risk, minimizes R&D costs, and lowers time to market, while guaranteeing CAT-iq support.
The XceedR family offers the industry's highest flexibility, smallest footprint and lowest system cost. In addition to delivering HD sound, XceedR provides worldwide coverage with unmatched range, extended conversation time, unique GUI functionality, and an enhanced listening experience.
"The recent increased proliferation of CAT-iq 2.0-certified home telephony products is a significant market development, since it enables multiple vendors to offer a range of interoperable devices compliant with cordless technology's next generation," said Ulrich Grote, Vice president, Terminal Product Management Fixed-Line of Deutsche Telekom. "CAT-iq 2.0 certification of our home gateways represents another step in Deutsche Telekom's all-IP strategy. In addition to ensuring HD-voice quality, the certification enables us to provide our subscribers with enhanced products and services, such as centralized directories and voicemail on the Internet."
"We are delighted to support Deutsche Telekom in making CAT-iq 2.0-compliant devices more accessible to the home," said Oz Zimerman, Corporate VP of Marketing and Business Development at DSP Group. "Following our recent success in bringing CAT-iq 2.0 to the handset market, our comprehensive home gateway solution is another indication of DSP Group's leadership in the cordless telephony market."
